Action Chess
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Waiting for your turn? How very nineties! Enjoy age-old tactical mechanics in a new frantic setting!
Game Rules
Action Chess aims to follow the regular chess rules. Except - of course - the
rule about taking turns to move pieces.
The implementation has known limitations:
- No en passant
- No castling
- No stalemate
- Pawn always promotes to Queen
Controls
For mouse control:
- Click on a piece
- Click on the target square
- Good job, try another move!
For keyboard control:
- Select the file to move from by typing a letter from A to H
- Select the rank to move from by typing a number from: 1 to 8
- Repeat (file and rank) for the target square
- Good job!
Extra help:
- Type SPACE to re-select the last moved piece to and move it again - helpful for both keyboard and mouse control.
- Type X to reset an in-progress move
Builds
Notes on releases:
- The Linux build is tested for each release
- The MacOS build have been tested for some releases
- Windows build has never been tested - LMK if it doesn't work!
- HTML5/JS build has performance issues (not uploaded ATM)
